short answer
In September 2026 we found 47 labs on peptide reports and lab directories, 34 of them in the US. Freedom Diagnostics and Janoshik lead the seller COAs that rating sites collect, and Krause Analytical ran 61% of Finnrick's 10,405 published tests. Most published list prices for a core test ran from $150 to $325. Five of 28 labs we profiled showed an ISO/IEC 17025 certificate or listing; one scope we could read names peptides.
The peptide testing market in 2026 in numbers
The peptide testing market is a few dozen labs, most of them in the US, that test research peptides for buyers, group-test organisers and sellers, plus a newer layer of sites that score their reports. No lab or rating site publishes revenue, so this report counts labs, tests, list prices and published claims, each from the lab’s or site’s own pages, checked in September 2026.
| Measure | September 2026 |
|---|---|
| Labs named on peptide reports or in peptide lab directories (our scan) | 47 |
| Of those, in the US | 34 |
| Tests published by Finnrick, a testing and rating service | 10,405 |
| Finnrick tests that were retatrutide or tirzepatide | 6,336 (61%) |
| Reports in the two biggest COA databases we tracked | 13,189 (Peptigrity) and 14,494 (PeptideBenchmark) |
| List price for identity, purity and mg on one common peptide | $150 to $325 |
| Labs, of 19 compared, that list the 14-day USP <71> sterility test | 5 |
| Labs, of 28 profiled, that showed an ISO/IEC 17025 certificate or listing | 5 |
Where the peptide testing labs are
Our search of lab sites, rating-site directories and buyer forums found 47 labs whose names appear on peptide reports or in peptide lab directories. Not all sell to individual buyers: some work mainly for compounding pharmacies or manufacturers, a few are intake services that send samples to a partner laboratory, and three were not taking new work when we checked.
| Region | Labs found | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 34 | Includes Finnrick’s 8 US partner labs, such as Krause Analytical (Texas) and PharmLabs (California) |
| Europe | 8 | Czech Republic 3, Poland 2, Croatia, Switzerland and the UK 1 each. Janoshik, in the Czech Republic, has far more reports than the others |
| Canada | 3 | All in Ontario |
| Australia | 1 | Sydney |
| India | 1 | Seen on one seller’s reports only |
We found no lab marketing peptide testing to buyers in South-East Asia, the Gulf or Africa. Buyers there would send samples abroad. Lab names and shipping notes by country are in where to test peptides.
Who produces the published results
Two channels carry most public results: certificates that sellers order and post, which COA databases collect, and tests that Finnrick orders on samples from buyers or its own purchases. Different labs lead each.
| Lab | Finnrick published tests | Peptigrity certificates | PeptideBenchmark COAs | Disclosed Labs COAs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Freedom Diagnostics | 216 | 4,790 | 3,578 | 2,327 |
| Janoshik | 195 | 2,556 | 2,027 | 1,035 |
| Krause Analytical | 6,372 | 108 | 60 | not listed |
| BTLabs | 2,411 | 127 | 85 | 88 |
| Vanguard Laboratory | not a partner | 925 | 1,008 | 555 |
| ILS Laboratories | not a partner | 523 | 1,290 | 603 |
| Chromate | 674 | 619 | 321 | 123 |
| TrustPointe Analytics | 315 | 236 | 582 | 211 |
| MZ Biolabs | 179 | 306 | 454 | 215 |
| BioRegen | not a partner | 363 | 141 | 178 |
| Horizon Analytical | not a partner | 299 | 309 | 80 |
| MDx BioAnalytical | not a partner | 225 | 121 | 144 |
Freedom Diagnostics and Janoshik together account for 56% of the reports on Peptigrity, 53% on Disclosed Labs and 49% of those PeptideBenchmark attributes to a lab. Krause Analytical ran about 61% of Finnrick’s published tests but appears on far fewer seller certificates. Each database collects and removes duplicates in its own way, so read the counts as rough volume. Volume shows which labs sellers and services use. It does not show which lab measures most closely, and labs can report different mg for the same batch, as why labs disagree explains.
Demand is concentrated in GLP-1 peptides. Figures Finnrick gave in a September 2026 interview show its requests growing from about 1,900 a quarter in the second quarter of 2025 to more than 7,100 in the first quarter of 2026, with GLP-1s at 63% of requests. How often each peptide passes is in peptide fail rates.
What labs test, and how they prove identity
We compared 19 labs side by side in peptide testing labs compared. Every one sells a core test of purity and content with some form of identity, and every one lists endotoxin. Beyond that, menus thin out:
- Sterility by USP <71>, 14 days: 5 labs list it by name. Others sell microbial counts, PCR or DNA screens, microbial limits or bioburden, sometimes under the word “sterility”. See which labs run a 14-day sterility test.
- Residual solvents: 5 labs.
- Water content by Karl Fischer: 3 labs.
- Counter-ion (TFA): 2 labs.
- Blind GLP-1 identification: 2 labs.
- Extra-vial checks (conformity, variance or USP <905> content uniformity): 8 labs list one by name.
Identity is where reports differ most. HPLC purity is a share of UV peak area, so it says nothing about what the main peak is. Identity needs its own evidence:
| How the report shows identity | Labs, of 19 |
|---|---|
| HPLC retention time, sometimes with a UV spectrum match | 7 |
| A mass spectrum, without the expected mass | 7 |
| Monitored mass transitions on a triple-quadrupole instrument | 1 |
| Expected and measured mass side by side | 2 |
| Peptide named, no identity evidence on the report | 1 |
| Several methods listed on the site, no public reports read | 1 |
Retention time alone is not specific, because similar peptides can elute close together. A mass match from LC-MS is the direct check, and a buyer can verify it only when the report prints both the expected and the measured mass. See LC-MS peptide identity and identity by LC-MS.
Accreditation: what the certificates cover
ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is granted for a listed scope of tests and materials, not for a whole lab. Of 28 labs we profiled that were taking orders, five showed a certificate or a registry listing. Of the scopes we could read, one names peptides.
| Lab | Certificate or listing | What the scope covers, as published |
|---|---|---|
| PharmLabs (California) | PJLA certificate L25-933-R1, to February 2028 | HPLC potency and purity for 10 named peptides, including BPC-157 and semaglutide. Retatrutide, tirzepatide, TB-500, endotoxin and sterility are not listed |
| Vanguard Laboratory (Washington) | A2LA 6377.01, to September 2027 | Food microbiology, preservatives and residual solvents including TFA. Peptide purity, identity, quantity, endotoxin and sterility are not listed |
| SIMEC AG (Switzerland) | SAS STS 0443, to September 2030 | A flexible scope for the lab’s own HPLC and GC methods; peptides are not named |
| ACS Laboratory (Florida) | A2LA 6786.01 | Scope not read by us; Disclosed Labs describes it as cannabis, hemp and kratom. The ACS peptide site makes no ISO/IEC 17025 claim |
| Ethos Analytics (Arizona) | PJLA certificate L26-225, to June 2028 | The scope in PJLA’s directory covers supplement, cosmetic and botanical methods, such as vitamin C, caffeine and melatonin; peptides are not named |
Vanguard’s site says its accreditation applies to the methods in its published scope. Four more labs sit in between. MDx BioAnalytical says its PJLA certificate has expired and re-accreditation is pending after a March 2026 audit. Peptigrity lists accreditation as in progress for Accumark Labs and Bioviridian. ILS Laboratories says it is ISO 17025 accredited “for activities within our accredited scope”, but its site names no accrediting body or certificate number. The other labs we profiled, including Freedom Diagnostics and Janoshik, showed no certificate or registry listing.
Before you rely on an accreditation claim, ask for the certificate number, the accrediting body and the scope page that lists your test and your type of sample. More in ISO/IEC 17025 and peptide testing.
Turnaround: promised and measured
Of the 19 labs we compared, 11 publish a standard turnaround, 7 publish none, and Vanguard confirms it per order. Published figures run from Freedom Diagnostics’ “average results in 1–3 business days”, counted from accessioning, to 9–11 business days at ACS. Some labs give more than one figure: Horizon Analytical’s services page states a typical 48–96 hours in one place and 5–7 days in its price table. Ask which figure applies to your order, and when the clock starts.
Sterility by USP <71> takes at least 14 days wherever it is offered, because the method incubates the sample for 14 days. Few sources measure real turnaround. Finnrick’s status page does, from its own receipt of a sample to the result, including the leg to the partner lab. For the three months to 23 September 2026, tests run at Krause Analytical took a median of 20 to 23 days by test type, with a 90th percentile of 36 to 43 days. At BTLabs the medians were 19 to 24 days. Its stated targets are about four weeks for free community tests and two weeks for paid Standard tests. In the forum threads and reviews we read, results slower than promised were the most common complaint about labs. Step-by-step timings are in how long peptide testing takes.
Published prices in September 2026
| What you buy | Published list prices, checked September 2026 |
|---|---|
| Identity, purity and mg, one common peptide | $150 at Bioviridian to $325 at Horizon Analytical; ILS lists its HPLC panel at $200 |
| The same test for GLP-1s, at a lab that prices per peptide | TrustPointe: $300 for semaglutide or tirzepatide, $400 for retatrutide |
| Endotoxin | $150 at Bioviridian to $300 at TrustPointe; Horizon $200, Vanguard $210 |
| Sterility by USP <71>, 14 days | $150 at Vanguard to $300 at TrustPointe; Bioviridian $200 |
| A package: core test, endotoxin, bioburden, fentanyl screen and seal check | Vanguard Gold, $550, three vials |
| Testing through Finnrick | Community test free and published; Standard $250 with endotoxin, private; Custom from $39 (Krause) to $169 (PharmLabs) a sample |
| Seller programmes | Finnrick Launch, $220 to $680 per product, two of four samples tested |
Prices are in US dollars, before shipping and tax, and several labs quote each job instead of publishing a list. Volume and speed move the bill: Horizon’s core test falls to $225 a sample in a 10-sample bundle and rises to $425 for a 1-day rush. The same test name can cover different work, so compare what is measured before you compare totals. Lab-by-lab price lists are in peptide testing cost and the price comparison.
Rating sites and directories
One kind of rating site tests samples; the other scores reports that sellers or buyers already paid for.
| Site | What it does | Size, September 2026 | Labs covered | Domain registered (registry records) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Finnrick | Collects or buys samples, has them tested, rates vendors | 10,405 published tests; 1,884 vendors listed | 9 named partner labs | 2024 |
| Peptigrity | COA database; scores shops | 13,189 tests from 714 shops | 32 | 2026 |
| PeptideBenchmark | COA ledger; vendor trust bands | 14,494 records | 26 named labs | 2026 |
| Disclosed Labs | Grades vendors and labs from COAs | 6,401 COAs | 40 | 2026 |
| Merit Verified | Scores vendors and lab quality | 6,756 COAs from 166 vendors | about 20 | 2026 |
| PeptIQ | Protocol app with a community COA database | no total found | 46 | 2026 |
The same lab can score very differently. Merit Verified, whose lab score gives weight to accreditation, rates Janoshik 30 of 100 (“Limited”) and Vanguard 85 (“Strong”). PeptIQ rates them 60 and 62. Read each site’s method page before its ranking. Formulas, money models and smaller sites such as VialAudit and Peptide Critic are compared in peptide rating sites compared, and Finnrick’s standards in how Finnrick works.
What changed in 2026
- Demand grew fast. Finnrick’s quarterly requests rose almost fourfold between mid-2025 and early 2026, led by GLP-1s.
- The rating layer is new. Five of the six rating sites in the table above registered their domains in 2026, according to registry records.
- Finnrick changed its scores and its labs. It dropped A–E letter ratings on 6 July 2026 for a pass percentage. Its first published tests from Ichor Life Sciences date from July 2026 and from PharmLabs from September 2026. In September it took new orders for four of its nine listed labs: Krause, BTLabs, Ichor and PharmLabs.
- A large testing group entered. On 28 August 2026, Smithers announced that it had acquired ACS Laboratory, which runs ACS Peptide Testing Labs.
- Some labs paused or closed. Three of the 47 were not taking new work in September, and one of them announced it would stop on 1 October 2026.
- One gap remains. Finnrick says it estimates each lab’s bias from batches tested by more than one lab, but it does not publish the figures, and no other site publishes per-lab offsets. Published same-batch comparisons are collected in inter-lab comparison.
Where HK Analytical fits
On the measures in this report: one order can include any mix, per sample, of identity (LC-MS), purity (HPLC), content per vial, blind GLP-1 identification, endotoxin (LAL), Sterility (USP <71>, 14 days), residual solvents, counter-ion (TFA, acetate), water content (Karl Fischer) and vial-to-vial consistency. Identity reports show the expected and observed mass. Every number comes with its raw data. Each report is a signed record with a private link that anyone holding it can check on /verify, carries our own photo of the vial as received, and states how the client is related to HK Analytical. Results within days of receipt. Sterility (USP <71>, 14 days) is the one test that takes 14 days, because the method incubates for 14 days. We do not hold ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. We have no published price list: quotes are on request. Our sourced comparison with five labs is on how we compare, and the example report shows the format.
Questions
How big is the peptide testing market?
No lab or rating site publishes revenue, so size is best counted in tests. Finnrick alone had published 10,405 tests by September 2026, and its requests grew from about 1,900 a quarter in mid-2025 to more than 7,100 in early 2026. The two biggest COA databases we tracked hold about 13,200 and 14,500 reports. GLP-1 peptides made up 63% of Finnrick's requests.
How many peptide testing labs are there?
Our September 2026 scan found 47 labs whose names appear on peptide reports or in peptide lab directories: 34 in the US, 8 in Europe, 3 in Canada, 1 in Australia and 1 in India. Rating sites list between about 20 and 46 labs each. Some serve mainly compounding pharmacies or manufacturers, and three were not taking new work when we checked.
Which peptide testing labs are ISO 17025 accredited?
Of 28 labs we profiled, five showed an ISO/IEC 17025 certificate or registry listing: PharmLabs, Vanguard Laboratory, SIMEC, ACS Laboratory and Ethos Analytics. Scope is what matters. Of the scopes we could read, only PharmLabs' names peptides, for HPLC potency and purity on 10 of them. Ask any lab for the scope document, not only the certificate.
How much does peptide testing cost in 2026?
In September 2026, most labs that publish prices listed $150 to $325 for identity, purity and mg content on one common peptide. Endotoxin added $150 to $300, and a 14-day USP <71> sterility test $150 to $300. Finnrick's community test is free and published, and its Custom orders start at $39 a sample at a partner lab. Many labs quote per job instead.
Which lab publishes the most peptide test results?
It depends on the channel. On the COA databases that collect sellers' reports, Freedom Diagnostics has the most, then Janoshik. Among tests Finnrick ordered and published, Krause Analytical ran 6,372 of 10,405, about 61%. Volume shows which labs sellers and services use. It does not show which lab measures most closely.
