short answer
MZ Biolabs is a mass-spectrometry contract lab in Tucson, Arizona, that also sells COA testing for peptides, SARMs and nootropics. It measures purity by HPLC-UV and confirms identity by accurate mass on high-resolution QTOF instruments, printing the expected and measured mass. It lists endotoxin per USP <85>, publishes no prices or turnaround, and takes orders through its contact form.
What MZ Biolabs is and where it is based
MZ Biolabs is a small mass-spectrometry contract research lab in Tucson, Arizona, USA. It does LC-MS method development, pharmacokinetic studies, metabolomics and proteomics. It also sells COA testing for “peptides, SARMS, nootropics, vitamins, and other research compounds”, for clients worldwide. Its home page states that the lab is DEA licensed and gives the registration number. The About page names its analytical chemists, a microbiologist and a facility manager. The owner, an analytical chemist, signs the reports.
Finnrick used MZ Biolabs as a partner lab from January to September 2025 and published 179 of its tests across 9 peptides. Finnrick describes it as a DEA-registered lab “pairing HPLC with high-resolution QTOF”. Its lab page now lists no MZ tests that can be ordered through Finnrick.

Tests and instruments MZ Biolabs lists
The COA testing page offers HPLC-UV plus mass spectrometry for identity, purity and quantity. Most samples are purified compounds such as raw powders, but the lab can also quantify liquids, tablets and capsules. The page states that purity testing does not cover activity, sterility, endotoxin or pH.
The instrument page names each instrument:
- Three Bruker Compact QTOF mass spectrometers, with a resolution of about 20,000 and optional MS2 fragmentation to confirm a peptide sequence.
- A Thermo LTQ Velos Pro linear ion trap with a Waters nanoAcquity system.
- A Waters Acquity UPLC with UV detection for purity.
- C8, C18, HILIC and amide columns, with ESI and APCI sources.
GLP-1s are tested in practice, and Finnrick lists nine peptides from the lab. MZ does not list residual solvents, counter-ion (TFA or acetate) or water content.
How identity is confirmed
Identity is MZ Biolabs’ strong point. Its reports print the expected and the measured monoisotopic mass side by side. The comparison table marks MZ as the one lab of the five that meets this row. Since 2026, the report viewer also shows the mass spectrum. The reports print the peptide sequence and a PubChem CID, so you can check the expected mass yourself. Our guides to LC-MS identity and HPLC vs mass spectrometry explain why a mass match matters.
Purity comes from an HPLC-UV chromatogram at 214 nm with a peak table, so a reader can see the small impurity peaks behind the area-percent figure. The reports also note that salts and sugars are not normally detected by UV.
Endotoxin and sterility at MZ Biolabs
The lab’s staff includes a microbiologist. Its service page says bacterial endotoxin testing per USP <85> “is now available for injection vials and certain raw materials”. The same page announced sterility per USP <71> for early 2025 and has not been updated since. Ask the lab whether USP <71> is available before you plan around it.
MZ Biolabs turnaround
MZ Biolabs does not publish a turnaround. Ask for an estimate with your quote.
How to check an MZ Biolabs report, step by step
- If the report is from 2026, scan its QR code and check that the page it opens belongs to the lab.
- Compare that record with your PDF: compound, sequence, expected and measured mass, purity and date.
- For an older report without a QR code, send a copy through the lab’s contact form and ask the lab to confirm it. The site has no lookup page.
- Check the identity numbers yourself. Look up the PubChem CID printed on the report and compare its monoisotopic mass with the expected mass on the COA.
- Add up the peak table and check that the main peak’s share matches the printed purity.
Our COA verification guide covers checks that apply to any lab.
How to order MZ Biolabs testing
There is no public price list, submission form or test kit. Start with the contact form: list the compounds, the sample type and the tests you need, and ask for a quote, payment terms and an estimate of timing. Existing clients have a login on the site. Send samples only after the lab confirms how to ship them.
Who MZ Biolabs suits
MZ Biolabs suits brands, vendors and institutions that want:
- accurate-mass identity from high-resolution QTOF;
- a peak table behind the purity figure;
- quantitation of powders, capsules or tablets;
- SARM or nootropic testing, or custom LC-MS method work.
Individual buyers should ask first if they want a published price, online ordering or a published turnaround. The same applies to a lookup page or a lab photo of the vial. See other labs in peptide testing labs compared and Janoshik alternatives.
How HK Analytical differs
Our report also prints expected and observed mass, with the error in ppm. The same order can add content per vial and Sterility (USP <71>, 14 days). Each report carries our own photo of the vial as received (chain of custody) and is a signed record you can check on /verify. Results within days of receipt. Sterility (USP <71>, 14 days) is the one test that takes 14 days, because the method incubates for 14 days. We do not hold ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. See the example report.
Questions
Where is MZ Biolabs located?
MZ Biolabs is in Tucson, Arizona, USA. The site footer gives its current address, and older reports show an earlier Tucson address. The name refers to m/z, the mass-to-charge ratio that a mass spectrometer measures.
How much does MZ Biolabs testing cost?
MZ Biolabs does not publish prices on its site. Testing is quoted per order. Send your compounds, sample type and the tests you need through the contact form and ask for a quote, including payment terms and how long results will take.
How do I verify an MZ Biolabs COA?
Reports from 2026 carry a QR code that opens the lab's report viewer. Compare the viewer with your PDF. The lab's site has no lookup page, so for older reports without a QR code, send a copy through the contact form and ask the lab to confirm it.
Does MZ Biolabs test endotoxin and sterility?
Its service page says endotoxin testing per USP <85> is now available for injection vials and certain raw materials. The same page announced USP <71> sterility for early 2025 and has not been updated since, so ask the lab whether sterility is available now.
Does MZ Biolabs accept samples from individual buyers?
The site is aimed at research, pharmaceutical, clinical, academic and veterinary clients. PeptideBenchmark lists its intake as business or institutional, with direct consumer submission unconfirmed. Ask through the contact form before you send a sample.
